Meet Dr Alissa Ambrose, our newest team member!
We are delighted to announce Dr Alissa Ambrose will join Stop the Shame. for the launch of GreenFlow in Cambodia in June 2023. Alissa a doctor working in sexual health who believes in building trusting relationships with patients to foster sexual empowerment, autonomy and gender equity. Originally from Malaysia, Alissa has worked in hospitals, clinics, refugee camps and outreach programmes throughout Southeast Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and the UK. Alissa has worked extensively with vulnerable populations, including rough sleepers, sex workers, refugees and asylum seekers, and in doing so has gained awareness of the intricate matrix of an individual’s social determinants of health, health seeking behaviours and institutional barriers to healthcare.
Alissa will conduct GreenFlow workshops in sexual health at Anjali House, working in conjunction with a local social worker and local teachers. The workshops will be filmed as part of a documentary on the creation of GreenFlow and the importance of sexual, menstrual and contraceptive health education to break barriers to gender equity.
